In-home tech help for seniors in Maryland

By Senior TechAssist · · 6 min read

We help older adults in Maryland’s Washington suburbs with the technology they use every day, at home or by phone and video. That includes Montgomery County communities like Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Silver Spring, Rockville, Potomac, Gaithersburg, Germantown and Olney, and much of Prince George’s County, including Hyattsville, College Park, Greenbelt and Laurel.

Here’s what we do, where we visit, and how it works.

What we help with

  • New phones, tablets and computers: setup, moving contacts and photos, and learning the basics at your own pace
  • Making things easier to see and hear: bigger text, louder ringers, captions and hearing aids connected to your phone
  • Scam protection: call and text blocking, safer sign-ins, and what to do if you clicked a link. See what to do after clicking a scam link.
  • Email and accounts: password resets, recovering a hacked email, cleaning up an inbox
  • Staying in touch: FaceTime, WhatsApp and Zoom, plus shared family photo albums
  • Health portals: MyChart and telehealth video visits. See MyChart made easy.
  • Around the house: Wi-Fi, printers, smart TVs, streaming apps and smart speakers

Where we visit in Maryland

Home visits in Maryland include:

  • Montgomery County
  • Most of Prince George’s County, including the communities closer to DC and along the northern side of the county

Maryland home visits have a $35 travel fee, added to your total when you book. Prices are on our pricing page.

Some parts of southern and eastern Prince George’s County are currently outside our home-visit area, including Upper Marlboro, Largo, Mitchellville, Accokeek, Brandywine, Cheltenham, Aquasco and parts of Bowie. Howard, Anne Arundel, Frederick and Charles counties are also outside it. The quickest way to check an address is our service area page.

If you’re outside the home-visit area, remote help works anywhere. Many tasks, like email problems, app questions, video call practice and settings changes, work well by phone or video.

How it works

  1. Book a free 15-minute call. Tell us what’s going on. We’ll recommend a home visit, remote help or our Scam Shield setup.
  2. Know who’s coming. You’ll get your helper’s name and photo before a visit.
  3. One-on-one help at your pace. We work on your own devices and explain in plain English. The goal is that you can do it yourself next time.
  4. Family welcome. A son or daughter can join in person or by phone.
  5. Written steps to keep. You won’t have to remember everything.

Prices are published and agreed before we begin. You pay in full by card, through a secure payment page, before your visit. Never by gift card.

Our safety rules

Maryland residents get the same scam calls everyone else does: fake Medicare, fake Amazon, fake bank fraud departments and fake tech support. So you should know exactly how we operate:

  • We never call you out of the blue.
  • We never ask for passwords or payment details over the phone.
  • We never accept gift cards. Anyone asking for gift cards isn’t us.
  • You keep control of your accounts and passwords.

If you’re unsure about a call, hang up and call the number you already have for the company. See how to spot scam calls and texts.

For families

Adult children often reach out first, sometimes from out of state. A common pattern:

  • An initial home visit to set up a new phone, block spam calls and set up Medical ID
  • A follow-up session to practice video calls or MyChart
  • Remote check-ins after that, as questions come up

Our Family Tech Concierge plan covers ongoing help with scheduled sessions and family updates. Details are on the pricing page.

For senior living communities in Maryland

We also run hands-on workshops and "bring your device" help hours for independent living, assisted living and 55+ communities, planned with your activities team. Learn more on our communities page.

Common questions

Do you only help with Apple devices? No. We help with iPhone, Android, iPad and other tablets, Windows PCs, Macs and smart TVs.

Can you come to a parent’s apartment in a retirement community? Usually, yes. Mention the community when you call, as some have check-in procedures.

Will you try to sell me a new device? No. We work with what you have. If something new would really help, we’ll explain the options and leave the choice to you.

When to get help

If you or a parent in Montgomery or Prince George’s County could use a patient hand with technology, start with a short conversation. Book a free 15-minute call, and we’ll tell you honestly whether a visit, remote help or a simple tip is the best fit.
